The Reason for this website.

Have you noticed how, usually,
the Information Centre in a town serves visitors, telling them about "this town",
but often does not have much space for the brochures from other interesting places?
This means when locals want to travel, there is not a lot of help for them. Also searching for information about a particular place takes a lot of time. Yet it is the sort of activity I enjoy.
So I shall be putting here (as time permits) information and photo albums of places we visit, and how to get there, with emphasis on the less expensive way of doing things.

I welcome contributions from other travellers.

There will be links to websites I find useful, relating to different places, and things to see and do there.
I hope to get permission from a lot of organisations to put up-to-date copies here of their brochures that I have gathered while travelling.

While I already have information about places not too far from Piopio, I felt it would be exciting to begin with places in the distant South West, including some of the colourful Central Otago Autumn. (yes I do love autumn landscapes). So we spent a couple of weeks travelling from Christchurch through the centre of the South Island to Queenstown, out to Fiordland, up through South Westland, back to Christchurch in the Tranz Alpine train; Coach to Picton, InterIslander Ferry to Wellington, and back home by Overlander train through the centre of the North Island.

At every stopping place I gathered brochures. I do hope I can get permission to use them here.
